Youn jue (Eunice) Bae
I am an assistant professor in the chemistry department at Cornell University. During my undergraduate study at the University of California, Berkeley, I became super excited about laser spectroscopy after working with Prof. Stephen Leone. I studied a single quantum dot blinking and fell in love with laser excitation and light emission! During my PhD at Northwestern University with Prof. Michael Wasielewski, I got to learn about the role of spins in the multiexciton generation process in organic molecules. Since then, I became more interested in spins and started my postdoctoral research in 2D magnetic materials at Columbia University in Prof. Xiaoyang Zhu’s group. In my group, I hope to navigate the intricate interplay of spins, lattices, and electrons in various magnetic materials using light.

I am a graduate student in the Department of Physics interested in studying correlated electronic systems using light. I completed my undergraduate coursework in Physics with a secondary in Computer Science at Harvard in 2023. There I worked on various projects involving pump-probe spectroscopy on quantum materials as well a temperature-dependent Raman spectroscopy study with the Mitrano group. Outside of the lab, I enjoy cooking and going on long walks around the Ithaca region. Email: njb245[at]cornell.edu

I'm a postdoctoral researcher interested in studying many- or few-particle processes in low-dimensional systems. I completed my PhD advised by Prof. Cun-Zheng Ning at Tsinghua University. During the PhD I worked on spectroscopic observation of three- and four-particle interactions for electron-hole system. Outside of lab, I enjoy hiking, reading, and coding.
